In general, for the opportunity to meet other professionals in a relaxed and social environment. Last night, the answer would have been much different.

  • Social Games Seattle

As members of a creative industry with high mobility, networking is critical to our professional development. The group's inaugural meetup packed the room with great potential contacts. I absolutely would attend further meetups with this group.

Others should join up because any marketplace of ideas is a great opportunity to discuss and learn from one another. The provided food/beverage was a great way to get people to show up. That being said, I feel that some people just showed up for the free stuff. I talked to some people that seemed very vanilla about the whole thing. Casual connect seemed like it was more successful in the sense that all of the people that were there really wanted to make business deals and/or share their stories and ideas. Maybe if they had more of the "workshop" aspect (or demonstrations) they were talking about in future meet ups, it would grab a bigger audience and gain more relevant support. It would certainly convince me to show up for the next one.

This is a great group to join up with to meet folks with interests in the gaming industry--especially social and casual games, but across the board as well.

  •  I'm not sure. It said in the description "The event is from 7-10 with food and drink provided".... Provided you brought a fat check book! We stood in a line for 45 minutes simply to get a shitty lanyard. What was the point of that torture? We would have ordered food, since the description lied to us, but with dinners starting at $12 for a freakin' sandwich, forget it! I learned nothing, met a bunch of weridos, and had a couple drinks that cost me $20.
