All, the MIT Enterprise Forum is hosting an event on startup financing and I thought some of you might be interested. I've included the description below:
--------- Click here to register. To VC or Not to VC? Growing and Financing Your Company Through Challenging Times Date and Time: Wednesday, May 12, 2010 - 5:00pm - 8:00pm Location: Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, WA While reports of the death of venture capital are undoubtedly premature, there’s no question that venture funding has become increasingly difficult to obtain in the last several years. As a proven source of funding, it’s understandable that many emerging business focus on venture capital, while others consciously compare the advantages and disadvantages of VC money and choose alternative financing routes. Have you fully explored the available options? If you intend to seek venture funding, would it help to hear from decision makers about how financiers from different sectors (e.g. venture debt, strategic or corporate partner, asset backed lender) will assess your company from a funding perspective? Would you like to hear how other companies have managed to survive and thrive with and without venture funding? On Wednesday, May 12th, please join our moderator Chase Franklin (QPass, Daptiv), along with entrepreneur Jonathan Sposato (Picnik, Phatbits) and our panel of finance experts, •Mark Ashida, Managing Director at OVP; •David Berry, Partner at Flagship Ventures; and •Michael Butler, Chairman and CEO of Cascadia Capital. Join us in the discussion, hear their stories from the trenches and have your questions answered over light refreshments. Click here to register. |
